Payroll Tax Specialist

Position Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining tax profiles and accounts. Additionally, they will serve as support to the human resources function. Our ideal candidate will have ADP systems experience and expertise in payroll/taxes. This role reports to the payroll manager and is remote.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely payroll taxes
• Ensure accurate withholding and submission of payroll taxes and other deductions
• Prepare and analyze highly complex key financial information
• Assist with budget preparation and review for compliance purposes
• Perform special projects and duties
• Assist with payroll accounting journal entries and perform monthly payroll account reconciliations
• Handle complex payroll requests and issues related to payroll, tax, year-end processing, filings and posting to the general ledger
• Assure that tax processing, payments and filings are completed with detailed attention to accuracy, timeliness and compliance
• Analytical support for internal and external groups as well as supporting of the payroll team from a technical perspective
• Provide ideas, solutions and tools to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of payroll processing
• Assist in the development, reporting and review of metrics to drive performance, identify trends and develop/implement process improvements, escalating issues and proposed solutions as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 3+ years of multi-state payroll and tax experience 
• HRIS systems experience, ADP  preferable
• Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
• Analytical mindset, ability to succeed in high volume environment
• Thorough knowledge of state and municipal employer/employee taxes
• CPP preferred
