Welcome to our series about what makes Willory truly unique: our team. Without the people on the Willory team we would not be recognized as one of the top workplaces in Northeast Ohio and have grown so significantly in the last eight years.
Get to know Willory’s Client Relations Director, Lisa Mamula through her own words. If Lisa’s words resonate with you and you want to join #TeamWillory, check out our Why Willory? page.
HOW DID YOU FIND WILLORY?
I’d like to say, “We found each other”
I joined Willory as part of the acquisition of The Human Resource Department, Inc. (THRD) in 2013. With Willory’s sole focus in HR and Payroll, it was a perfect fit to continue to work with HR clients and candidates and expand my network within the Payroll community.
IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT SEPARATES WILLORY FROM OTHER RECRUITING FIRMS?
For one, our specialized focus in HR and Payroll. Having a dedicated focus allows us to go deep within the areas we specialize with our vast candidate and professional networks.
Our internal team is highly credentialed with HR and payroll certifications, formal education and Corporate HR and Payroll experience. We truly understand the needs of our clients and can serve them as a strategic partner with our HR and Payroll staffing and consulting services.
WHAT ARE THE 3 MOST SIGNIFICANT LESSONS THAT YOU HAVE LEARNED IN YOUR CAREER SO FAR?
I like to think I’ve learned a lot throughout my career, but several lessons stand out to me.
Never burn bridges. The longer you stay in a field, you will cross paths with former managers, co-workers and employers that can impact your success positively or negatively. Your reputation will follow you throughout your career. Conduct yourself with a high level of integrity and always treat your co-workers, vendors, and clients with respect and dignity.
Pay it forward and take the time to help someone else in their career. I’ve been very fortunate to have had accomplished managers that mentored and developed me early in my career. I can honestly say the lessons they taught me then still ring true in my everyday work today.
Don’t be afraid to network!
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT WHILE WORKING AT THE FIRM?
As part of the firm’s management team, I am proud to be integral in the strategic planning and growth plans of the organization while leading the Client Relations department to support these initiatives.
HOW HAS WILLORY HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER DEVELOPMENT?
Willory has supported me to pursue HR certification in addition to continuous ongoing development with active membership and participation in professional associations and conferences locally and nationally.
LOOKING BACK AT YOUR ACADEMIC CAREER WHAT DID YOU LEARN THAT IMPACTED YOU THE MOST?
My formal education is in Business Administration with a major in HR Management. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to study HR concepts and theories and translate that knowledge to a 20+ year career dedicated to my field.
HOW IS YOUR WORK LIFE BALANCE? WHAT DO YOU SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME DOING OUTSIDE OF WORKING AT WILLORY?
Willory affords me a tremendous amount of flexibility and work life balance primarily because of our remote office setup. I can dedicate the time that would otherwise be spent on a long commute, rush hour traffic or battling inclement weather to maximize my productivity.
Most of my time outside of work is spent with traveling, golfing and enjoying my family.
